DETROIT, MICHIGAN – July, 2010 – “West Bloomfield” is the story of event promoter Corey Woodward who after losing his money and family in a bitter divorce climbs back up the ladder to become a millionaire. The same week he opens his first nightclub/restaurant he meets Alexis Parkhurst – a stunningly beautiful fashion designer, with a painful past of her own. Instantly sparks fly, despite their hesitation towards the opposite sex, and they both finally find the one thing they have searched for their entire lives. The tearful climax exposes the painful truth…. “THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN NEVER HAVING IT AT ALL IS LOSING IT.”
Set in the posh suburbs of Detroit, the film diverts from the traditional settings of most locally shot urban tales and depicts the city through a set of alternative lenses.
The movie is a first for writer and producer Juan Shannon. Shannon says, “ This is just the beginning stages for my company. I am looking to build and network with a team of writers, directors and other professionals to develop films and television content in Detroit.”
Directed by Kennard LaJuan, starring Juan Shannon and Diamond Marie with Jason “Kulayd” Clayton, Maya Usher, Virginia Negron Bryant, Dana Arcicovich and Big Gov, “West Bloomfield” hits select theatres in September and will be available for purchase on DVD at select retailers throughout the U.S. and Europe.
